Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question about vehicle service contracts, commonly referred to as extended warranties? Click below to find answers.

What is a VIN?

A Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is a 17-character code unique to your vehicle.

To find your VIN, look in the following places: The vehicle registration or title, your insurance card, the driver's side dashboard or door jamb, or the front of the engine block under the hood.

Is there a mileage restriction with your coverage plans?

Endurance offers plans for all vehicles 20 years old or newer with no mileage limitations. Our team can work with you to customize a plan that fits your needs and budget.

Does my vehicle need an inspection to purchase a policy?

You are not required to get a vehicle inspection when choosing a coverage plan, but it is recommended.

What are pre-existing conditions, and what if my vehicle has them?

A pre-existing condition is one that, within all reasonable mechanical probability relates, to the mechanical condition of your vehicle prior to contract issuance or before the expiration of the waiting period. Failures that occur or begin to occur before the expiration of the waiting period are not eligible for coverage under your contract.

When can I begin using my policy?

Your coverage is active after the waiting period is over. The waiting period allows us to ensure your vehicle is working properly and is an excellent time for you to review your policy and make sure it's the right coverage for you and your vehicle. Please refer to your contract for the time and mileage of your waiting period.

How do I view my policy online?

New policies may take up to 5 business days before being accessible through the portal. When your contract is active, you will receive an email summarizing your coverage, username, and contract number.

To view your policy online, visit the Endurance Customer Portal. Sign in using your email address and password (or contract number in all capital letters). You can view your contract, print your membership card, or make a payment in the portal.

If you experience sign-in issues, please delete your browser history (or “cookies”) and try again. You can also contact our Customer Experience Team at 866.432.4443 or email [email protected] for help.

How do I view my policy in the Endurance Mobile app?

To view your policy in the Endurance Mobile app, you must first download it from your device's app store. Download from the Google Play Store for Android phones or the Apple App Store for iPhone (iOS).

Once downloaded, open the app and create an Endurance customer portal account or sign in using your email address and password (or contract number in all capital letters). View your policy information directly on the main dashboard.

If you experience issues signing in, please delete the app and try again. You may also contact our Customer Experience Team at 866.432.4443 or email [email protected] for help.

How do I use my coverage plan and benefits?

If your car requires service for components covered under your vehicle service contract, all you have to do is contact Endurance. We can help you find a licensed repair facility, or you can also search the RepairPal Certified shop network for a shop in your area. Contact our Customer Experience team at 866.432.4443.

In addition, if you break down, get a flat tire, run out of gas, or even lock your keys in the car, 24/7 roadside assistance can assist. Call for a tow truck through the Endurance Mobile app or reach out directly to roadside assistance at 877.488.2418.

Can I reach you 24 hours a day?

Absolutely! Endurance roadside assistance offers you emergency help 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, no matter where you are in the U.S. or Canada. Use the Endurance Mobile App or call +1 877.488.2418.

Can I cancel my warranty?

Every auto protection plan or vehicle service contract (VSC) we offer comes with a full 30-day money-back guarantee. Our “return policy” is simple. We consider your first 30 days with a new VSC a “review period.” Take your time, read through your policy, and discuss it with your family.

If you decide for any reason that this isn't the vehicle service contract for you, call our Customer Experience Team at 866.432.4443. As long as you haven't used your policy during those 30 days, we'll be able to refund your money and cancel your contract.

What responsibilities do I have to keep the coverage active?

To keep your vehicle protection plan active, follow these best practices:

  • Read and understand your vehicle service contract to know what is covered and what can potentially void your plan.
  • Have your car serviced on time by scheduling routine maintenance checks.
  • Keep receipts and service records to assure that you have a paper trail of all your maintenance services if you ever need them.

What is covered under my plan?

Endurance offers a wide variety of plans to ensure common and major auto repairs are covered. Check your individual vehicle service contract for details. You can find it online in the Endurance Customer Portal or the Endurance Mobile app. Click here to view examples of our coverage options.

Is my service contract transferable?

Yes, it is, and by transferring your vehicle service contract to the new owner when selling your car, truck, or SUV, you immediately increase your vehicle's value. Endurance can also cover any new vehicles you purchase, saving you money and allowing you to work with a provider you know and trust.

How do I know if my vehicle qualifies for full coverage?

Most drivers who request a quote from Endurance qualify for vehicle protection. We offer a variety of plans with varying levels of coverage to ensure you get what you want at a price you can afford. If your vehicle doesn’t qualify for full coverage, there are still plenty of other extended coverage options available to you.

How is Endurance different from other extended warranty or vehicle protection companies?

  4. Technology: Our smartphone app allows drivers to submit a claim or review coverage – right from the palm of their hand.

Are your plans insured?

Our extended auto warranty plans are 100% insured by some of the nation's largest and most respected insurance companies. Our insurance providers have been in this business for a very long time and are guaranteed to be there when you need them.

Which vehicles do you cover?

We cover most vehicles up to 20 model years with no mileage limitations. We know every owner and vehicle has different protection needs, which is why we offer a variety of plans. Explore the coverage options available, and talk to an Endurance representative to find the perfect fit for you.

Where can I go for repairs that are covered by my vehicle service contract?

Unlike most extended warranties, Endurance auto protection plans are honored at any licensed repair facility anywhere in the nation. These facilities include dealerships, chain shops, or your local repair shop.

Even if you are away from home, your vehicle will still be covered when you need repairs. To connect customers with certified mechanics at shops nationwide, we have partnered with RepairPal, the largest auto repair certification provider. Can I put more than one vehicle on the same service contract?

No, you cannot put more than one vehicle on the same service contract.

What is a vehicle service contract?

First, let’s start with a factory warranty. This is a contract between you and a company, often your car's dealer or manufacturer, covering certain repairs within a specific time or mileage range. Typically, the warranty falls within the first 3 years or 60,000 miles and is usually a part of the overall cost of the vehicle.

Once the factory warranty expires, you can choose to purchase an extended warranty or a vehicle service contract (VSC) to cover repairs and replacements. Generally, warranties and VSCs do not cover theft, damage caused by natural disasters, or vandalism. That is what insurance is for.

You can purchase a full-coverage plan, sometimes called an exclusionary plan or a plan that only covers the major systems on your vehicles. It's important to note Endurance offers vehicle service contracts, similar to extended warranties, though they are not officially warranties by definition.

Why do I need a vehicle service contract?

Even if you have the most reliable car on the market, someday it's going to break down. Modern vehicles are incredibly complicated. And even a relatively minor defect or a mechanical breakdown can cost a fortune to repair.

By buying a solid, insurance-company-backed warranty, you protect the investment you made in your vehicle. When something goes wrong, you pay the low deductible and let us handle the rest. In many cases, a vehicle service contract (VSC) can pay for itself in one repair. Also, purchasing a quality, transferable VSC in place can raise the resale value of your car.

Where should I look for a vehicle service contract?

Although dealerships offer warranties, they often do so at increased prices to make a profit. Going directly with a vehicle service contract (VSC) provider can save money and get more customization in your plan.

To avoid unnecessary charges and inflexible contracts, purchase your VSC from a company like Endurance, specializing in providing plans at competitive prices. In addition, we are the director administrator of most of our plans, meaning Endurance handles everything from quote to claim with no middleman and no runaround.

When does a vehicle service contract take effect?

Find the official start date of the vehicle service contract (VSC) you select in your policy information. Some affect the in-service date when the vehicle was first purchased and reported to the manufacturer as sold. Others begin on the day you purchase the plan. A knowledgeable Endurance representative can help you select the VSC that is right for you.

I’ve found lower prices on the internet. Why should I buy coverage from you?

Consider both price and quality when shopping for an auto warranty or vehicle service contract. Look for a company that offers competitive rates, but do not be fooled by providers whose prices are far below the market standard. Such companies may rely on Risk Retention Groups as underwriters rather than insurance companies with a much longer history of paying claims and must adhere to strict government standards designed to protect consumers.

If the price is too low, it may signal that the company has not set enough money aside to guarantee that your claim gets paid when you need it. Select an auto protection plan provider with a strong reputation and long history. Since 2006, Endurance has offered drivers a trusted source for their vehicle protection needs – backed up by real customers, recommended by auto experts, and highly ranked on leading consumer review websites like Consumer Affairs, ConsumersAdvocate, Cars.com, Google, and Trustpilot.

Why do you strive to enroll vehicles on the initial contact?

By enrolling on the initial contact with Endurance Warranty, you can take advantage of wholesale pricing, which can save you up to 60% on the cost of your vehicle service contract.

How do consumer watchdogs rate auto warranty companies?

Consumer publications often recommend auto warranty companies to drivers to cut out the cost of a middleman. For example, dealerships typically purchase their policies from other companies and offer them to customers at a higher price. However, you can purchase your coverage directly from a provider and save money.

Auto protection plan providers offer contracts that are often better and less expensive than what the dealer offers. You may purchase one anytime that your car remains within a specific mileage limit. If the price is too low, it may signal that the company has not set enough money aside to guarantee that your claim gets paid when you need it. Select a provider with a strong reputation and long history, like Endurance. By skipping the middleman, you can buy a reliable warranty at a significantly lower price than you would pay at a dealership.

How is your vehicle service contract different from my auto insurance policy?

Insurance covers your vehicle only if there’s an accident. It won’t cover you when your car breaks down. With an Endurance vehicle protection plan, you’ll be covered if your engine breaks down, your transmission goes out, or your car requires any other major auto repairs.

How do you pay claims?

Generally, the repair shop where you take your car will submit your claim. Once your claim is approved, the shop performs the repairs and submits an invoice directly to Endurance. Claims are paid upfront, directly to the repair shop, for ALL covered repairs. We take care of the costs of parts, labor, and taxes associated with your auto protection plan. No waiting for reimbursement. No high out-of-pocket expense. We get you back on the road fast.

When do I file a claim?

We suggest taking immediate action after a breakdown by contacting Endurance. Our friendly Customer Experience Team is ready to help you begin the process of filing a claim. We can also help you find a licensed repair shop to get started on fixing your car.

In the case of a breakdown, contact our 24/7 roadside assistance through the Endurance Mobile app or by calling 877.488.2418. A tow truck can help you take your car to a licensed repair facility, and from there, you can instruct the service manager to contact Endurance to obtain authorization for the claim. It's important to note that filing your claim right away can help prevent further damage.

What happens after I file a claim?

After you file your claim, we will complete a final review to issue the authorization. All you have to do is sit back and relax while your car is repaired. We will reimburse the shop for the cost of the parts and labor, and you’ll be back on the road in no time.

How do I file a claim?

Best practices for filing a maintenance or breakdown claim with Endurance include:

  1. Take immediate action to prevent further damage and bring your vehicle to a licensed repair facility. Call 866.432.4443 or visit the RepairPal Certified shop network to find a location. If your vehicle service contract includes maintenance coverage, follow a similar process as outlined below.
  2. Have the shop obtain authorization from the policy administrator (aka Endurance) before moving forward on any repairs or maintenance.
  3. Authorize “tear-down and inspection” with the shop, if needed, for repairs. This will allow the facility to determine cause and cost.
  4. Review what will be covered with the service manager and have them complete your claim.
  5. Pay any applicable deductible (this will depend on the terms in your vehicle service contract).
  6. Keep all forms of documentation during this time.
  7. Sit back and relax while your car gets repaired!

You may also find the steps to file a claim in your Endurance contract. Access your full policy and terms on the Endurance Mobile app.

How do I check the status of my claim?

When filing a claim at Endurance, we know our customers' most significant concern is knowing when it will be approved or completed. Contact our Customer Experience Team at 866.432.4443 or check the Endurance Mobile app for live updates.

How do I know if my claim will be covered?

Depending on the Endurance coverage options you have for your vehicle (or which ones you are considering), the claims process may look different. Your contract will have a comprehensive coverage list of the components that are or aren’t covered. Access your policy on the Endurance Mobile app.

How much does an Endurance vehicle protection plan cost?

The price of your plan depends on various factors, including your vehicle make, model, year, mileage, and the level of coverage and length of the contract. Give us a call at 866.918.1438 to speak with an Endurance representative who will help put together the right plan for you.

What are my payment options?

We realize that one size doesn’t fit all when it comes to vehicle service contracts (VSCs), so we offer more flexibility than any other provider. You’re able to get coverage on as little or as much of your vehicle as you like. Whatever you need, whatever your budget, we’ll arrange a policy that works for you. Endurance also offers flexible payment plans to ensure you’re covered without breaking the bank.

How can I update my payment method?

To update your payment method, you may visit your payment providers' site or contact our Customer Experience Team at 866.432.4443.

What’s my refund? Can I get one?

At Endurance, we believe in both our products and the wisdom of purchasing a vehicle service contract, which is why every plan we sell comes with a full 30-day unconditional money-back guarantee.

How much is the deductible?

Endurance offers a wide range of plans with deductibles ranging from $0 - $200 depending on coverage and options selected by the customer.

How does Endurance pay for the cost of my auto repairs?

Endurance pays for your auto repairs directly. You’ll never have to wait for a reimbursement check if you have a vehicle protection plan from Endurance. Choose the licensed repair facility that you want to repair your vehicle, and Endurance will pay for the covered parts, labor, and tax directly.
