How to Find an ASE-Certified Repair Shop Before You Need Repairs

Find a repair shop before you need repairs

When your car breaks down, the last thing you want is a scramble of calling random repair shops, waiting days for a reply, or discovering too late that a shop doesn’t accept your extended warranty or auto protection plan. One way to avoid such potential delays is to plan before something goes wrong. By pre-selecting your repair shop, understanding your coverage, and knowing where to go, you can turn an otherwise stressful breakdown into a far more manageable experience.

Luckily, if you have an Endurance protection plan, the tools to do this work ahead of time are already available to you. Using the Customer Portal, you can understand your coverage basics and find auto repair shops with ASE certification in your area.

Start in the Endurance Customer Portal for Answers

Before choosing a repair shop, it will help to understand how your coverage works and what the claims process looks like. The Endurance Customer Portal is designed to offer this clarity before a repair situation ever arises, and it’s conveniently accessible from any mobile or desktop device, whether you’re on the go or at home. Inside the Customer Portal, you will see three overarching categories at the top of your screen: Overview, My Info, and Support.

To see the overarching view of your coverage plan, including the contract start and end date, coverage terms, and the vehicle the plan covers, start on the ‘Overview’ tab. For a deeper dive into the coverage that your plan provides, click the ‘My Info’ tab and select your plan. The pop-up that appears will break down your deductible, any additional drivers on the plan, and specific components under the hood that are eligible for coverage.

By reviewing this information, you can better understand whether the issue may qualify for coverage under your contract terms. From this portal, at the bottom of the page, you will also see a helpful FAQ section that walks you through the basics of your plan, including helpful information such as:

Use the Shop Search to Find ASE-Certified Facilities

As for beginning the claim process, it all starts with locating a local independent shop or dealership that accepts Endurance coverage plans. From the Endurance Customer Portal, there are a few ways to locate a repair shop:

  1. Click ‘Start a Claim’ on the overview tab. There, you will see options to schedule repair appointments directly. Tap ‘Get Started.’ The scheduling feature includes step-by-step guidance to help drivers locate nearby participating VIP Repair Network facilities, understand what information may be needed before a visit, and prepare for the repair process.
  2. Scroll down the page on the ‘Overview’ tab and locate the widget that says ‘Find a Repair Shop.’

If you have not set up your Customer Portal login, we recommend you do so as soon as possible. However, you can also navigate to EnduranceWarranty.com/repair to our RepairPal-powered shop search to locate a certified repair facility.

Why Is ASE Certification Important?

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification indicates that technicians have passed industry-recognized testing and meet professional standards for vehicle care. Typically, auto repair facilities with ASE-certified technicians are more often familiar with structured claims processes, diagnostic requirements, and documentation; all key elements when working with a vehicle protection provider.

Endurance’s shop search and scheduling tools help you narrow options to shops that are not only qualified but also experienced in working with claims administrators. These shops are typically more comfortable communicating directly with Endurance claims, which can help streamline communication during the claims process.

Information to Have Ready Before Visiting a Shop

Even the best repair shops can’t move quickly without the right information. Having your details prepared in advance of your visit will help both the ship and claims team work more efficiently. At a minimum, before showing up for repair services, provide your master technician with the following:

  1. Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) in order to confirm your vehicle specs
  2. The current mileage of your vehicle is required for coverage verification
  3. Your Endurance plan ID (which can be found on the ‘Overview’ tab of the Customer Portal) or contract number

By providing this information upfront, your trustworthy mechanic shop can contact Endurance promptly to confirm coverage and request authorization without unnecessary delays. It also reduces the risk of follow-up calls that would otherwise slow down diagnostics or approval.

Setting Expectations With the Repair Shop

One of the most common sources of claims complexity is work starting too early, which is why setting expectations with your repair shop from the get-go is critical. When you arrive, let the shop know that you have an Endurance vehicle protection plan and that specific repairs require authorization before work begins.

A typical process will involve a diagnostic inspection, submission of findings to the claim team, and approval prior to repairs being conducted. ASE-certified shops through the VIP Repair Network will be accustomed to this flow for the most part, but it’s always good practice to provide an explanation.

Travel-Readiness and Planning Ahead

Pre-selecting your repair shop isn’t just for emergencies; it’s also a smart move before any long trips or seasonal travel. Whether you’re preparing for a summer road trip or winter driving conditions, knowing where to go and what to expect can help drivers feel more prepared if something goes wrong on the road.

Using the Endurance Customer Portal or the repair shop search feature before travel will help you identify nearby ASE-certified shops along your route or at your destination. Knowing your benefits, such as 24/7 roadside assistance, rental car coverage, and trip interruption reimbursement, can also help you stay on top of things.

Rather than reacting to problems when they arise, you’ll be equipped with knowledge, support contacts, and confidence on the road.

Drive With Confidence, Not Guesswork

Pre-selecting your repair shop is about more than convenience; it’s about peace of mind. By using your Endurance Customer Portal access, identifying ASE-certified shops through the repair shop each, and setting expectations before repairs begin, you can reduce confusion (and stress) during the repair and claims process.
